What time is it in british columbia in canada?

They’re on Pacific Standard Time.

Sorry I only have the time for British Columbia not in Canada.

7:47 PM in Calgary

It is GMT -8, where, since you posted in the Philipines at GMT +8, it’s 16 hours earlier, and if you move over midnight, a day earlier also.

Well right now it is 11:21pm on January 1, 2012 (since I answered this question 10 minutes later than the one you asked posted in the Victoria section).

What does flying to canada cost?

Lets say i want to fly from schiphol air port in the netherlands to toronto in canada.
It will be december 2012 probably the 31st

It’s too early to buy tickets for December…you’ll have to wait another few months.

A quick search on http://expedia.nl/ revealed that flights start at around ?320 if you go with Air Transat. You won’t find anything cheaper than that. Try different days of the week, because it can make a big difference whether you travel on a Wednesday or a Saturday, for example.
KLM is a thousand times more comfortable than AT, but it’ll run you around ?2000.

You might be able to save some money by catching a discount flight to London first. London Gatwick-Toronto Pearson on Air Transat starts around ?215, and you could get a flight on EasyJet from Amsterdam to London Gatwick for around ?30, but then you have to factor in all their extra charges like ?11 per bag, meaning you’ll probably pay at least around ?45. So, it’s up to you whether it’s worth the hassle to save a few euros.

look at quotes on canadian air lines then look for cheap hotels around the area you want to stay and check all the prices for different nights. these could be all done online.
then bring money for taxi fee, food, and extra for shopping and entertainment.

Should I move to Canada?

So to start off i’m currently 18 years old living in Miami, FL and just obtained my G.E.D. (high school equivalent) I live with a family who are going to officially adopt me soon and from that I believe I will get Canadian citizenship since the father is Canadian . They’re probably going to move to Canada this summer maybe to Quebec (Montreal). If I stay i’ll get a job (still looking..) and start at my local community college in Miami. However I was wondering if moving with them would be a better idea in terms of the economy, laws, etc. How much is community college in general and can I get financial aid like I can do here in Miami? I speak a bit of French, but are schools all over Quebec French-speaking ? How does that work ? How is the job market in Canada ? Basically i’m just looking for general information on the country, education info, prices, etc. I was planning on moving out of the U.S after I finished college anyhow, so I see this as an opportunity. Input ? Thanks in advance. :)

Here’s the standard basics…

Canada’s rated as being/having:

-The world’s best advanced economy.
-The only G7 nation fully recovered from the global financial crisis & recession.
-The world’s soundest banking system.
-The world leader in educational attainment.
-The world’s most tolerant country.
-The world’s friendliest nation.
-The world’s most welcoming country.
-The world’s top-brand country rating.

Canada’s also rated as being:

-One of the world’s 10 safest countries.
-One of the world’s 10 most peaceful nations.
-One of the world’s 10 happiest countries.
-One of the world’s 10 least corrupt nations.
-One of the world’s 10 freest countries.
-One of the world’s triple-A credit rating nations.

And Canada rates better than the US in those preceding categories.
In specific comparison with the US:

-Canada’s Triple A credit rating was reaffirmed, not downgraded.
-Canada has the world’s 2nd highest quality of life (Australia’s currently #1.)
-Canadians pay fewer taxes per person than Americans.
-Canadians have more legal rights & freedoms than Americans.
-Canadians are healthier and live years longer than Americans.
-Canadians are wealthier than Americans (higher median net worth per capita.)
-Canadians are less politically polarized than Americans and have more political parties.

Canadians pay more for consumer goods. There’s various reasons for that.
Canadians also have universal social programs for all citizens, not just universal healthcare.

Additionally, Canada’s a kingdom; a constitutional monarchy whose system of governance is Westminster-style Parliamentary democracy.
More on that here: http://www.pch.gc.ca/eng/1287409646699/1??

Canada’s official languages are English and French.
Quebec’s where almost the entirety of Francophone (French-speaking) Canadians live.
More info on how that relates to education – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_i??

US student loans can be used to pay for education outside the US.
Info for foreign students seeking higher education in Canada – http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/index??

Hope that helps and best wishes for your future success.

You are too old now to be "adopted" for immigration purposes as you are an adult now in Canada.

Unless you have been a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant for some time you will not get any financial aid from the government for school.

Canada is not interested in importing people that will immediately require government assistance. We have too many Canadians now needing assistance.

Canada is a good place which lots of opportunity to sculpt your career and accomplish a successful profession. It has the tenth largest economy in the world and is one of the world’s wealthiest nations.

What do Canadians wear during the Winter on a night out to a club?

Ottawa, Ontario. What kind of heels?

Canadians wear what people typically wear to clubs, dress codes (if any) permitting.
The difference is what we wear over it.
And the colder the weather, the warmer the outerwear needs to be.

My experience has been that a lot of women wear dress boots instead of shoes.
(Like my fiancee tells me, the first time she sank an open-toed strappy-heeled foot into a slush puddle was the last time she’d ever make that mistake.)
Whether those boots have heels is a matter of personal preference, but heels do limit traction in slippery conditions.

Thank you. I appreciate your help greatly!

Depends on how cold it is, how I’m getting there and whether I’m staying at one club or moving around. If I were driving or taking a taxi and staying at one club then I’d be inclined to wear something light just to get me from the vehicle to inside. If, however, I was going by public transit and/or was planning on moving around to different clubs, especially if it was really cold out, I’d be obliged to wear something warmer like a parka and full winter garb. Drinking and then going out in the cold puts you at a higher risk for hypothermia, so don’t skimp, dress up warmly even if you don’t thin it looks good!

Typically rubber heels.

Canadians don’t venture out of their homes during winter cuz they don’t have money to spend. They sit at home gossipping and farting.

wear your winter clothes, the bars will all have coat check so once you get in it’s all good.

high heel bootsor closed toe heels and most nice places have coat check

Snow suits with high heel pack boots. No lie.

I visited canada in nov – dec 2011& spend approx 1000/-ca$ . how can i get my vat refund?

I’m afraid you can’t. The GST (vat) rebate program was terminated a few years ago.

You can’t get it now. First of all the money had to be spent in an establishment that is participating in the program. Then you have to get the forms from them and fill them in and hand them in at the border.

You can’t come here and then go back and apply.

You can’t.

What is the best place to live in canada?

I’ve kind of been thinking of south British Columbia, because of the climate and the general feel of the mountains. I prefer a mountainous region and small/medium towns, but I’m trying to take into account cost of living and what nots. Any suggestions?

South BC sounds like a good place. Maybe somewhere like Kelowna, Kamloops, Nanaimo or even Whistler would be a good place for you. All charming medium-sized towns.

Wherever you have a job lined up.

All of BC has a high cost of living compared to Alberta.

Castlegar BC is as good a place an any.

Mountainous region: CHECK!
Small town: CHECK!

BC and Yukon will fit your preferences.

How long does Transunion keep the record of a collection report on the file in Alberta, Canada?

I called them 3 times and I got 3 different answers. 1. 6years after the report is opened. 2. 6 years after the report is closed. 3. 7 years after the report is closed. I also read somewhere between 6-14 years.

6 years after it goes on your file is the minimum, but it can be extended depending on your financial performance later on. If you default on more loans afterwards, the original offence may be kept on file for longer than if the problem was a one-time thing that was followed by clean financial history thereon out.

You should regularly request copies of your files from Canada’s two largest credit reporting agencies.

In Ontario, is January 2nd a holiday?

I have many packages being delivered to me, and I need to know whether or not the packages are coming monday or tuesday via the Canada Post.

According to GO Transit, it’s an "observed" New Years’ Day.

Technically, January 2 is not a holiday, but since January 1 falls on a Sunday, there will be a day-off in January 2, except for some companies that might be willing to add overtime hours in this day.

It is not a holiday HOWEVER most federal government and provincial government offices are closed today (which includes Canada Post).Since the New Years holiday fell on a weekend they get the monday off "in lieu" of the holiday time off they missed on Sunday.I know thats how it is for my office and I work for the federal government.

January 1 is the holiday, but if it falls on a weekend day then the the next weekday (Monday) will be observed as a holiday.

Some businesses and agencies will have it off because the 1st fell on a holiday and their union contracts entitle them to a day off.

Your post will not arrive until Tuesday.

Do I need to get shots to go to Europe from Canada?

So I’m 10 years old and my dad is taking me to Europe this Spring to see my aunt and cousins. Plus go to Disney Land in Paris, France.
I’m just wondering if I need shots/vaccinations to go to Europe from Canada.
My aunt and cousins come to Canada quite frequntly and they never mention anything about it.
So do I need shots? And if so, where do I get the shot? Is it the arm, leg or hip, anywhere else?
Please, I’m very confused.

No you don’t need it well I’ve gone to Europe and I don’t need it, I’m living in Mexico and I always fly from Mexico City to London and I’ve never needed, so don’t worry EUROPE IS WONDERFUL and is such a beautiful place that is worthwhile, take care enjoy your trip :)

Depends on what part of Europe. For Western Europe it would not be necessary, but for some parts of Eastern Europe you might need shots.

No, you don’t need any nasty vaccinations for Europe.

You generally never need to get shots when travelling to first world countries

Gift ideas that Canada may not have but US does?

I am trying to send my canadian friend and unique gift from the US that can’t be easily found or is cheaper than in Canada.(she is a girl). Such as makeup, art supplies, candy etc.. I want something that i would be able to ship to Canada. What would you guys suggest?

Blue mtn dew and mint oreos.

There is not really anything you can buy in the USA that cannot be found in Canadian stores.

And while many things are a but cheaper in the USA, the cost difference would be eaten up by the cost of shipping.

Actually Canada often gets many new products before the USA as they test them in Canada before going to the expense of marketing in the USA.

There may be some stores that Canada doesn`t have but pretty much anything with regards to clothing, food, games, electronics, makeup etc that can be bought in the US, can be found in Canada aswell.

There are some candies that differs, I hear in the States you guys don`t have Ketchup Chips or Smarties, so maybe a type of Candy.

What Chuckles said. Candy, meh. A lot of US candy IMHO is too sweet for my taste, don’t know about your friend though. Saltwater Taffy is cool though…
You can get a lot of US stuff here nowadays, and sometimes Canada has cool stuff US doesn’t have…

Very hard to know importing & mailing restrictions but maybe a gift card.
